While I was digging around for the floppy of Nighwing Annual #2 I found this gem in my files. It’s no secret I love Marc Andreyko who wrote the issue. And there were are a number of cute scenes. But then there is this. Dick had showed up at Babs’ apartment the previous evening to see her for the first time since TKJ. They were having a passionate reunion until Dick announces his news. I hate it because it makes Dick out to be a gigantic replica of his name. And it is, I feel, needlessly cruel to Babs.
Meh, I can’t avoid posting this.
But I was trying to.I hate that Dick cheated on Kory so I tend to ignore this scene. Is it bad to ignore canon? Whatever, I don’t appreciate Babs/Dick being pitted as this epic love story when Kory was as meaningful and a huge part of his growing up. The reveal of the wedding invite just cheapened Dick and Kory’s relationship, made Dick look like a huge jerk (my biggest problem with it tbh—this is the first thing a lot of Dick haters target when judging him :( ), and show the Dick/Babs relationship as cliche, ‘star crossed lovers thwarted again’ bullshit. And I love D/B.
But I did like the art. Even Babs’ tongue looks nice lol.
